By

With the rollout of the Agency for Integrated Care’s (AIC) Learning Management System portal, more Community Care professionals have been granted greater access to learning opportunities in the sector. There are over 270 courses offered across the eight appointed Learning Institutes (LI) this year. To meet the evolving needs of our sector, the HMI Institute of Health Sciences (HMI) has since opened up its doors to offer 12 exciting courses in 2021 that Community Care professionals can benefit from.

Coming to Your Aid

Formed in 2001, the HMI Institute of Health Sciences (HMI) was established with the aim to nurture learners to become competent healthcare personnel with their unique teaching and learning frameworks. The institute focuses on experiential-based learning and a student-centred approach, and houses 10 Learning Labs and classrooms with simulated healthcare settings.

To optimise the learning experience for all students, courses are devised to be split into classroom, laboratory training, as well as clinical attachments. Theory sessions will be conducted via home-based learning, while in-person training will be done interchangeably with discussions, scenario-based training, case studies and simulation-based learning. These holistic teaching methods were developed and tailored specifically to cater to adult learners to ensure effectiveness.
