7 Training Courses at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital to Improve Your Basic Care Knowledge

By

Since the revamp of the Learning Management System (LMS) portal, Community Care professionals are now able to upskill and pursue continuous learning within the sector, from the eight Learning Institutes (LIs) appointed by the Agency for Integrated Care. One such LI is Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH).

Providing Care Closer to Home

Established in 1910, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) is Singapore's largest single-site nursing home operator, whose services include inpatient services, a Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre, Senior Care Centres as well as community care centres and community outreach programmes.

In 2018, KWSH established the Community Training Institute (CTI) to showcase their commitment to training and development. In July 2018, they were one of the first organisations to be appointed the Lead Training Providers by the Agency for Integrated Care.

From their initial offerings of basic courses for care staff, home care and caregiver training, KWSH has extended its scope to engage with community partners as well. In the next four years, KWSH will be rolling out over 90 courses across five domains — as well as work with 18 training providers — to meet the sector’s manpower development needs. Here are other accreditations that KWSH holds.

  • First Industry Approved Training Centre (ATC) to conduct the ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) in Healthcare (Home Care and Dementia Care)
  • ITE Certified On-The-Job Training Center (COJTC)
  • SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)’s Approved Training Provider
  • SkillsFuture Queen Bee
