Nurses’ Merit Award - Naw Paw Ray, Nurse, All Saints Home

“When I was growing up, I looked after my grandmother who has dementia, as I’m the eldest in the family. It was through taking care of her daily needs that I discovered my passion for caring for the elderly. This inspired me to pursue a career in nursing.
I started as a Nursing Aide at All Saints Home 17 years ago. One of my more memorable experiences was helping the daughter of a late resident to arrange for her mother’s last rites. She had no other family members to help with her mother’s final journey and was at a loss. Often, in Community Care, we don’t just care for our patients, but their family as well.
It is such a great honour to receive this award. I never imagined that the work I do would be recognised in such a way.”
