F&B veteran joins NTUC Health – Linda Chew

By

Linda Chew, NTUC Health’s new Head of Home Care, brings a fresh perspective to the sector with over 15 years of experience in Operations. She cites her 81-year-old mother as her biggest inspiration. Linda joined the organisation in November 2017.

What was your earliest exposure to the Health/Social services/Community Care sector?

Before joining NTUC Health, I worked at Unity Pharmacy as Senior Director of Operations for about three years. During that time, I had the opportunity to assist at a community health screening event held at Chinatown. That exposed me to the Community Care sector and paved the way for me to join NTUC Health. The event opened my eyes to the number of people who have never done any health screenings before, especially our seniors.

Can you tell us about your previous work experiences?

I was in the Food & Beverage industry for 15 years where I specialised in restaurant operations and training. I was also the Director of Operations at Wildlife Reserves Singapore. With my background in systems and process management, I hope to improve the level of efficiency in areas that require more attention and work to further cement NTUC Health’s foundation, benefiting our care staff and our seniors in the long run.

What are some of the new plans you have for the organisation?

We are exploring new ways to leverage technology to improve efficiency and productivity so that we can, in turn, improve our quality of care to meet the growing needs of families and their dependents. Our clients are at the heart of all we do. Hence, we will continue to work on improving the customer journey so that we can provide the best customer experience at every touch point in our organisation.

Who inspires you?

My 81-year-old mother inspires me the most. Not only is she an active volunteer at The Good Life at Marine Parade, she also takes on acting roles in small TV productions. On top of that, she conducts cooking demonstrations, takes fellow seniors on day trips to Malacca and performs at community events! My mother said that she does all these because she enjoys helping “old people”. She is an excellent example of active ageing. I am so proud of her!
