Making residents hair-ppy

What if a haircut could bring a smile to a senior’s face? Every month, residents from ECON Healthcare Group (Yio Chu Kang) enjoy free haircuts by professional hairdressers.

The haircuts are done at the centre’s very own "Barbershop", which is an area that has been decorated like an old-school barbershop with mirrors, salon stools, and photographs of celebrities from the past. This supports residents in remembering the “good old days” and some of them even share their life stories with the hairdressers.

The residents look forward to these haircuts as they not only enjoy getting their hair cut, but have also built close bonds with the hairdressers. One of the residents, Mr Chong, shared, “I’m really happy to get a haircut. The hairdressers are polite, professional and I’m glad that so many of them visit us just to cut our hair.”
