Dental services in bed

More seniors in nursing homes are getting better access to dental healthcare. For example, Ren Ci Hospital (RCH) has been working with Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) since April 2016 to offer dental services to their clients. This service involves more than 20 volunteer dental professionals from TIMA. Done once a month, services provided include scaling, polishing, fillings and extractions. Removable denture services are also provided for selected clients.

Following RCH, Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home (LAMH) began using the service in June 2017. AIC linked LAMH with TIMA, who send their dental team along with members from the Singapore Dental Association. With these dental teams, seniors at these homes can now enjoy free dental treatment from the comfort of their beds!

Besides attending to residents’ dental needs, the team also brings cheer to them in other ways. During one of the visits, they gave residents floral balloons.
